Partisan/ Knitting Factory/ Figure Eight Media at CMJ BOBBY, Warm Ghost, Hundred Visions

Partisan, Knitting Factory Records and Figure Eight Media would like to invite you out to see our bands at CMJ. Hope to see you at one of these events. Give a shout for more info or to say hey.

WARM GHOST
Wed, 10/19, 10:30 pm -  Public Assembly  - FIXED CMJ Party
Thu, 10/20, 3:30pm  - Piano’s  - Tell All Your Friends/I Guess I’m Floating CMJ Party

Duality is also one of the driving forces in Warm Ghost’s amazing debut album on Partisan Records, Narrows. On the surface, that means every pop element (the comet-like chords of “G.T.W.S.,” the climactic, synth-chased choruses of “Myths On Rotting Ships”) is offset by an experimental one - from flourishes of field recordings to splintered blocks of beats and samples that suggest a life of listening to Aphex Twin, Autechre and fringe icons like Fennesz, Cluster and Chris & Cosey. Check out their track “G.T.W.S.” here: http://stereogum.com/773482/warm-ghost-g-t-w-s/mp3s/  .

Press for Warm Ghost:
“Narrows is extremely lush and pulsing. It’s imbued with a quality that makes it sound like latter-day David Bowie playing videogames with the current class of indie electronic artists.” -
WIRED.

“Chillwave auteur Warm Ghost’s “I Will Return” materializes into fuzzy Microkorg synths and overdriven drum sounds.” - NPR’s “World Cafe the Next 20.”

Thu 10/20, 3:15 pm  - Brooklyn Vegan “not-CMJ” day party @ the Knitting Factory
w/Yellow Ostrich, Still Corners, Hundred Visions, Forest Fire and Main Attrackionz

Having just gotten off an East Coast run with Wild Beasts, BOBBY will be joining  Little Scream for a West Coast run in November. BOBBY have garnered praise for their refreshingly unique eponymous debut, released this summer through Partisan Records. The album caught the ear of NPR, who selected BOBBY for their “First Listen” series, noting the album’s air of “calm chaos.” Pitchfork Media commented on the band’s “intriguing marriage of familiar sounds in new setting.”  The band themselves describe their musical confluence as ” a swollen lump of blooming, techno-color spores cast adrift on a warm bed of foam.” And yes, that’s exactly what it sounds like. Check out their track “Sore Spores” here: http://pitchfork.com/forkcast/15471-sore-spores/.

DEER TICK Confirms US Tour Dates

Partisan Records is excited to announce the first leg of tour dates in support of the band’s soon-to-be released new record, Divine Providence. Besides an appearance at Bestfest in Houston, TX, on September 25, the tour blasts off with two hometown shows at The Met in Providence, RI, and then winds its way around the country with a performance at New York’s Webster Hall on November 20. A full list of dates is below.

Divine Providence, to be released on October 25, was produced by the band along with Adam Landry and Justin Collins, who were also at the helm for lead singer, main songwriter John McCauley’s highly acclaimed side project, Middle Brother. Deer Tick’s live shows and McCauley’s overall stage aesthetic fueled his desire to create the raw and spontaneous kerosene blaze that is Divine Providence. While the break-neck speed and damn-it-all fury could give one the sense that it all may fall apart in an instant, Deer Tick never loses sight of the song. It is insanity, but there’s obviously a plan in place.

The album is the Rhode Island quintet’s fourth album in just five years, and is the first one the band has recorded in their home state. It’s a follow-up to their fantastic Black Dirt Sessions, that New York magazine called “flat-out great,” and inspired the Late Show with David Letterman to give the band its network television debut. The new record features for the first time lead vocal turns on a couple of songs by guitarist Ian O’Neil and drummer Dennis Ryan.

Bloggers, feel free to post this amazing video from Deer Tick’s August 11 show at New York City’s Pier 54. It’s a 17-minute highlight reel of the best parts of the show and gets to the heart of why Deer Tick is such an incendiary live band. Sound and picture is pristine. The video can be seen here: http://vimeo.com/27622265.
